Advanced, Person-Centred Care

This nationally recognised qualification prepares you to provide advanced, person-centred care and support to people with complex needs. You'll move beyond the basics into specialised practice — building the knowledge, judgement and confidence New Zealand employers are looking for.

Study is full-time and face-to-face at our Panmure campus, combining classroom learning, hands-on simulation and supervised workplace placement.

Entry Requirements

To be accepted into this programme, applicants must meet all of the following:

  • Age: Be at least [insert minimum age, e.g. 18] years old at the start of the programme.
  • Police vetting / character: Provide a satisfactory police clearance certificate [from country of origin and/or NZ as required]. A clear vetting result is required because this programme involves working with vulnerable people.
  • Academic background: [State your approved entry standard — e.g. completion of NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) or an equivalent overseas qualification, or relevant care experience. Confirm against your approved programme document.]
  • Health & fitness for practice: Be physically and medically able to undertake supervised clinical placement. [Confirm any health declaration / immunisation requirements.]

English Language Requirement

HCI does not teach English. To meet our English entry standard, applicants can complete English training through our partnered New Zealand Certificate in English Language (NZCEL) provider, available online and on-campus.

Accepted evidence of English includes:

  • NZCEL Level 3 [confirm required level / endorsement] from our partner school, or
  • An equivalent approved English test result (e.g. IELTS [5.5, no band below 5.0 — confirm]), or
  • Other evidence accepted under NZQA's English-language requirements for Level 4 study.
