International Students
Studying abroad is a big step. At HCI, your safety, wellbeing and success matter as much as your studies.
Your Rights as a Student
Hermitage Career Institute is a signatory to the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021. In New Zealand, an education provider must be an approved signatory to this Code before it can enrol international students.
The Code sets out the standards of care, support and information that every international learner can expect from their provider. It exists to keep you safe, informed and well supported throughout your study.
⚠ Confirm current signatory status before publishing. Verify link is live.
Fee Protection
Your tuition fees are kept safe. In line with NZQA's Student Fee Protection Rules, the fees you pay are held in an approved, independent trust account — separate from HCI's own funds and managed by an NZQA-approved independent trustee.
This means your money is protected, and refund arrangements apply in the unlikely event a course cannot proceed. We'll tell you the amount held in trust on your behalf.
⚠ Confirm your approved fee-protection mechanism and trustee before publishing. Fee protection generally covers agents' fees too — ensure wording matches your actual arrangement.
Practical Information
To study full-time at HCI, you'll need the correct fee-paying student visa from Immigration New Zealand. Once you receive your Offer of Place, our team will guide you through the documents you need.
For official, up-to-date visa requirements, always check: immigration.govt.nz
Under the Code of Practice, international students must hold appropriate medical and travel insurance for the duration of their study in New Zealand.
We'll help you understand what's required and accepted before you arrive. [Add accepted providers/policies]
Life in Auckland
Auckland is New Zealand's largest, most diverse city — a safe, friendly and beautiful place to live and study. From harbour walks and beaches to a vibrant multicultural food scene, you'll find a welcoming community and plenty to explore beyond your studies.
Our Panmure campus is well connected to the rest of the city, so you're never far from everything Auckland has to offer. [Add notes on accommodation, cost of living, local support services.]
